USPFC Training Ground Presented by ICMA-RC
Keeping in shape is a top priority for many in the public safety community and we’re here to help. Once a month, we will post a short workout video created by our athletes that you can add to your program or share it with your friends. Workouts will range from cardio to high-intensity interval training to calming yoga. If you would like to submit a video for consideration, please email STEVEN TRICARICO.

Athlete Profile: Meet Chip Buttell
This installment of our Athlete Profile series introduces us to Oxnard Police Department Senior Police Officer, Chip Buttell. Chip has been with the Oxnard Police Department for 19 years and is currently a Detective in the Major Crimes Unit.
Chip is an avid Ice Hockey fan, plays in recreational leagues several times a week, and coaches both of his kids in the sport. He is one of the captains of the VC Force Ice Hockey Team and has been competing in the Championships for ten years. “I enjoy competing at USPFC because of the camaraderie between our team and other athletes in the tournament.”
Chip strongly encourages anyone considering competing in the Championships to do so. “It’s a week away from work, a chance to compete against other public safety athletes and a chance to make lasting friendships.”
Giveaway Alert!!
Do you know an #EverydayHero who has gone above and beyond for their community? If so, we want to hear their story! USPFC is launching the “Highlight A Hero” campaign and we care collecting stories of first responders/public safety personnel. We want to profile the heroes amongst us that make our communities a better place. Whether it is a random act of kindness, a special moment on the job, or a larger organized effort, we want to shine a light on what makes our first responders and public safety personnel #EverydayHeroes!
If you submit a story, you will be entered to win a $25 digital gift card from Big 5 Sports.
Send your story along with a photo of the hero to 4info@cpaf.org
